The story
GROOVELL is a small record shop in the middle of the mall. It uses the look of a seventies record player — walnut, black and mustard — and a logo whose two O's are vinyl records.
Digging through crates is part of buying records, so the front of the stand has two record bins sunk into the counter, and the records are flipped from above. Nothing rises above the 110 cm counter except one black tower of 60 × 15 × 210 cm, which carries a large mustard record graphic that can be seen from far away.
The left side has a turntable set into the worktop and headphones, so every customer can drop the needle before buying. The right side sells needles, brushes and slipmats, and the back is the payment point.
Manufacturing and materials
- Body: 18 mm MDF carcass clad in walnut veneer with routed horizontal grooves, matte lacquer.
- Logo band: black matte lacquer; mustard acrylic letters.
- Worktop: 12 mm off-white solid-surface on a 30 mm substrate with sunken wells.
- Record bins: walnut-veneered wells with felt-lined dividers and a drainage-free sealed base.
- Listening station: vibration-damped well for the turntable, headphones on a steel tether.
- Tower: steel frame clad in black lacquered MDF; CNC-grooved mustard acrylic record graphic.
- Services: 16 A power line through the plinth; hidden cable duct for the turntable.
Final dimensions are confirmed by on-site measurement before production. Mall height limits, electrical supply and fire regulations are checked with the centre’s technical office at project stage.
