The story
KILIMO sells handmade kilims and small rugs that fit a modern flat: a runner for the hallway, a kilim for the foot of the bed, a pair of woven cushion covers. The stand looks like a weaver's corner, with walnut columns, madder red, saffron and indigo, and a woven band of stepped diamonds along the crown.
Rugs are sold by being seen open and touched, so the front is a low platform where kilims lie stacked and open at hand height. One kilim hangs whole on the left side, and on the right a small loom shows how the weaving is done. The back against the wall is closed storage for rolled rugs. The crown stays within the 220 cm limit.
The loom side also carries a large image of hands at work on a loom, so each customer side shows the brand and the craft.
Manufacturing and materials
- Columns and counters: solid walnut and walnut-veneered 18 mm MDF, hard-wax oil finish.
- Crown: 20 × 16 cm aluminium section, madder-red lacquer; printed woven-pattern band; off-white acrylic letters.
- Platform: walnut-veneered plywood box with a felt top to protect the textiles.
- Hanging bar: Ø 30 mm walnut rod on concealed steel brackets fixed below the crown.
- Loom display: small working tabletop loom in beech, secured to the counter.
- Graphics: printed fabric panel in a walnut frame.
- Back cabinet: walnut-veneered MDF with deep compartments for rolled rugs; wall-fixed.
Final dimensions are confirmed by on-site measurement before production. Mall height limits, electrical supply and fire regulations are checked with the centre’s technical office at project stage.
