The story
PUFFORA turns popcorn into a small celebration. The kernels are popped in front of the customer in a lit kettle machine, then tossed in caramel, cheddar, chocolate or sea salt. The red-and-cream stripes and the butter-yellow logo borrow from old cinema and fairground stands, and the smell does the rest of the advertising.
The island is open on all four sides and every side has a job: the machine on the front, the flavour bins on the left, cones on the right and payment on the back. The crown stays within the 220 cm mall limit, is only 20 cm high and rests on four slim 10 cm columns, so the view across the concourse stays open.
Cooking in a mall has to be clean. A recirculating hood sits directly over the machine, glass sneeze guards protect the open popcorn, and a hand-wash sink is built into the staff side.
Manufacturing and materials
- Counters: 18 mm moisture-resistant MDF carcass; tomato-red and cream lacquered stripes with a scratch-resistant clear coat.
- Worktops: 12 mm cream solid-surface on a 30 mm substrate, food-safe, seamless joints.
- Columns and crown: Ø 100 mm steel tubes, red powder coat; 20 × 16 cm aluminium crown section with raised butter-yellow acrylic letters; cables routed inside the columns.
- Popcorn machine: commercial 16 oz kettle machine with stainless cabinet, tempered-glass panels and an internal warming deck.
- Extraction: stainless recirculating hood with washable grease baffle, activated-carbon filter and an odour filter; no ducting required by the mall.
- Hygiene: 6 mm tempered-glass sneeze guards; stainless hand-wash sink with an under-sink water heater, fresh-water tank and sealed waste tank, or a mall water and drain connection through the plinth.
- Services: 32 A power line for the kettle and hood; hidden cable ducts in the plinth.
Final dimensions are confirmed by on-site measurement before production. Mall height limits, electrical supply and fire regulations are checked with the centre’s technical office at project stage.
